Lashing techniques

You cargo can be lashed and secured in many different ways.

The method of fastening used depends on the dimensions, weight, condition of the packaging and third-party requirements as well as the haulage company, captain and/or surveyor.

This is all to ensure that your cargo reaches its final destination smoothly and without damage.

We use various lashing techniques and materials. Some examples of these are set out below:

  • Wooden blocks
  • Chains
  • Steel wire
  • Steel band
  • Nylon band, tension band
  • Hercules rope
  • Sea-fastening by way of (mobile) welding
  • Dunnage bags
  • Coverings
  • Sealing in shrink-film and treatment with anticorrosive materials

If the cargo is secured using wood, depending on the final destination selected wood is used in conformity with the international ISPM no. 15 standard. This wood is correctly marked and is accepted internationally.
